In many ways, SAD is proving detrimental. This cannot go on.

Why take a preventative approach?

We are advocating a better way to tackle the world’s mental health crisis.

Teen Mental Health project

Our Teen Mental Health project begins with a qualitative study of teenagers, and those who care about them, who are personally affected by stress, anxiety and depression.

It has two distinct purposes:

1) The immediate goal is a regular podcast run by adolescents for adolescents that will provide mental health support for teenagers who have SAD in their lives.

2) Data from the study will be considered in the development of a number of our Milestones programmes:

  • 8ii11 – which will give support to the parents and other caregivers of 8 to 11 year olds

  • I Can Change My Mind – a preventative programme for 8 to 11 year olds

  • I Can Change My Moods – a preventative and supportive programme for adolescents

We believe that preventative care will reduce the severity and frequency of occurrences of stress, anxiety and depression.

We are also aware that even with the best preventative care available, SAD will still be something that affects some of us, some of the time. And we know that many young people are in need of mental health support for SAD right now.

Our Teen Mental Health project seeks to provide this support by engaging young people in the care of their own mental health and that of their peers.
